West was incorporated 2006 in the state of Oregon with
the purpose of establishing
one of the best working cattle/guest ranches in the American West,
Riverwind Guest Ranch.




Steven
Mayer, President - CEO: Graduating from the University of Massachusetts Agricultural
School in 1969, Steve and Virginia married and then returned to the family farm
which they purchased from Steve’s parents. In the next twenty five years they
increased the size in land by 100% and amount of cattle from less than 100 to
over 1000 head, becoming the largest dairy farm in the state of Massachusetts.
Steve also built a computer accounting firm for the farm and other small businesses.
After selling the farm to Bill Cosby and his wife, Steve & Virginia purchased
and operated a photography studio upon graduating from New York Institute of Photography.
They achieved a good working relationship with the surrounding communities to
stimulate business growth. Steve expanded into graphics and building web sites
on the Internet, and has assisted in the setup and management of different business
operations ranging from computers to construction. In 2001, Steve became a feed
yard dairy division, manager where he improved the dairy heifer program, involving
all daily aspects of supervision on the 5000 cow facility. Steve has over thirty
years experience in the agricultural business, mostly in management or ownership
positions. He successfully established a large multi-million dollar dairy operation
with new innovative ideas that are now used on many operations. |

Randy
Rhodes, President Cattle Operations: Raised in cow country, Randy learned to set
a horse early in life, to understand cattle and the cowboy way. Randy has developed
excellent management and supervisory capabilities. due to his military experience
and years in the cattle business. He is highly respected by subordinates and able
to obtain high performance levels from employees. Randy has over twenty years
experience in the feedlot and ranching industry, eighteen years in various management
positions. He has successfully established a clientele base for new back grounding
operations, and developed procedural manuals for pen riders with the main focus
on cattle handling techniques. In addition he initiated a breeding heifer development
and synchronizing program for retained owner clients. Randy assisted in the setup
and management of a Natural Beef operation as a separate unit within the larger
yard. |
Virginia
Mayer, Vice President: Upon graduating from University of Massachusetts Agricultural
School Virginia married Steve and assisted in the farm operation taking
a very active role as they increased the size in land and cattle up to 1000
head becoming the largest dairy farm in the state of Massachusetts. Virginia was
responsible for management of all the young stock; over 300 head of
calves, kept all computerized cow records, helped with crop harvest, and participated
in all management decisions. She supervised domestic landscaping and environmental
preservation on the farm. It was during this time that she raised
three children very successfully, and participated in community activities. Later
Virginia & Steve purchased and operated a photography studio, after graduating
from New York Institute of Photography. She was instrumental in establishing
a business following with the public, and providing good community relations.
Virginia later became assistant manager at the dairy feed yard where she helped
improve the dairy heifer program. Virginia has over thirty years experience
in the agricultural business, mostly in management or ownership positions
where she developed excellent people skills. |
Christine
Rhodes, Vice President: Christine has developed excellent management and supervisory
skills with over ten years experience in the agricultural world. She
has graduated from Wichita State University, with a GPA of 4.0 in
the Advanced Standing Masters Program. Chris has also worked in social services
with foster children and dysfunctional families While in Texas Chris
successfully established an office management program for feed yard
use. She also assisted in the setup and management of a cattle identification
system required for cattle tracking. Chris and Randy have adopted
a girl, Lily in the Fall of 2006 and we all welcome her to our campfire.
